‘La Petite Maison de Sue’

at Les Hautes Guissinieres is a pretty little Gite attached to our 18th century farmhouse near the village of Parçay-les-Pins in the Mains et Loire region of France. Away from the main roads, sitting next to beautiful forests, we are beside the regional and national cycle networks and within easy reach of the chateaux of the Loire Valley.

Peaceful woodland walks, visits to the nearby Lac de Rille and the delights of the nearby vinyards await, as well as the breath-taking sunsets and scenery on your doorstep. If you can tear yourself away, the delights of the Loire Valley, with its magnificent chateaux and gardens, as well the splendid cities of Angers and Tours all lie within an hour.

The nearest supermarket is approx. a 15-minute drive away. For full information on other stores and markets, information packs are provided in the cottage or you could try looking at other helpful pages on this website.

The Gite comprises of a cosy beamed living area on the ground floor & includes a wood burning stove, comfy sofa bed, arm chair, dining table and kitchen. The kitchen includes an electric cooker with gas hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer (use of part of a freezer in the garage is available), and all necessary utensils. The electric heaters efficiently ‘take the chill off’ if required. During the warmer months, the Gite stays beautifully cool.

Also included is WI-FI internet access & a TV with French and English options.

The spacious double bedroom upstairs is equipped with a Superking bed  that zips and links, so can be made into two singles if required. A travel cot and single clic clac chair bed is also available should either be required. There are the most beautiful views across the surrounding fields from the bedroom window. The spacious bathroom which is located at the top of the stairs has an excellent power shower, sink and toilet.

The Garden has a small seating area directly outside the Gite, plus use of garden to the front of main house with seating, with the lawn in front of the pool. Guests have exclusive use of our recently completed heated salt water pool and summer house from May to October. Times agreed to allow for daily maintenance

There is Parking in front of the main house. The garage to side of Gite includes recycling bins, barbecue, bicycles, boules, shared freezer.

Fresh linen and towels, along with a welcome pack are provided for all our guests, and should you have forgotten any essentials, we will be happy to help you out. We have our own hens, so extra eggs are available for a small contribution.

Testimonials

‘We have thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at this very comfortable and well provisioned Gite. We were made very welcome by Jo and Paul, who must have had so many other things to arrange (as new arrivals here themselves). The Gite itself was beautifully prepared for us and the good quality linen and kitchen ware was greatly appreciated and helped us to really enjoy this little snapshot of French rural life.
Top visits for us were Chinon (just to wander around), Bourgeil market (Tuesday. Plus a visit to the local Maison des Vins in the square, and Fontenvraud Abbey (stunning). It has been a lovely, slow-paced and relaxing week that we would heartily recommend to others.’

We arrived feeling very weary…and now as we sadly leave this lovely Gite we feel completely refreshed. Jo and Paul have been fantastic, such kind, helpful hosts. We have visited some delightful towns and villages, Fontevraud Abbey being a highlight. Sitting in the sunshine, in the lovely main square having a coffee in the town of Chinon was memorable, well worth a visit. We shall be back to this beautiful part of France, and will without doubt recommend ‘La Petite Maison de Sue’ to our friends. A wonderful holiday. Thank you both so much. Xx.

Thank you for the lovely warm welcome, we found the gite very comfortable (especially its beds and bedlinen) and very well equipped. Despite rain and wind, we were cosy and warm. We enjoyed discovering the surrounding towns and countryside, but due to our family commitments, didn’t make any big visits – hopefully next time! You’re in a lovely quiet setting and we slept like logs, nothing to wake us in the mornings. Thank you again, and see you again.

“We loved every minute of our stay with Jo. It was so much better than expected. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay twice. The gite is very cosy, clean and pleasant to stay in. The bed is amazing and very comfortable and the gite has everything you might need during a holiday in France. We did not only enjoy our time in the gite (there are many DVD’s to watch on a cosy evening, as well as French/English TV), but also outside! The pool area is amazing. Jo cleans the pool for you every day and the views from the pool are great too! Having a private pool in rural France is really what makes this place extra-ordinary. Moreover, Jo is a great host. She knows lots about the area and is always willing to help you. She really makes you feel seen (she provides you everything you might need) but at the same time she really respects your privacy. When you rent the gite you not only have a private pool, but also two private garden areas, a BBQ and two bikes to explore the area. We hope we can return one day and we are sure that we will enjoy it just as much.”

Thank you so much to Paul and Jo for being so helpful with our booking during such odd times! We love your Petit Maison de Sue, and will be recommending it to all of our friends. We started out very busy, visiting Fontenvraud, Villandry, Angers and more, but eventually relaxed into enjoying the beautiful pool and countryside. We can recommend the tank museum un Saumur, the mushroom caves of Saur de Loup, the petrification caves at Villandry (especially for children, but the adults might enjoy the wine tasting) If you love history and/or textiles the Apocolypse tapestry at Angers is worth the drive.
We hope to return.

Thank you so much for making our short stay so lovely.  The January weather was dreadful, and it was so good to return to La Petite Maison de Sue where we snuggled down and kept the weather at bay.  Thank you, Jo and Paul, for a super welcome.
Very best wishes

We keep turning up like ‘bad pennies’ at this wonderful place.  A superb welcome from Jo and a very comfortable stay.  We have visited several chateaux, one of the favorites being L’islette near Azay – very picturesque and a charming family home.  We can really recommend the café du The at Bourgueil for a most enjoyable coffee, with cakes and pastries to die for!  Also enjoyed a pleasant lunch in Le Café de Muse in Parcay.
Thank you once again Jo for making us so welcome.

A warm welcome from Jo followed by a well-received hot meal.  The gite is equipped with everything you need and is in excellent order throughout.  The holiday was a motorcycled tour and the local roads are a joy to ride.  Jo was very helpful regarding points of interest.  All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

We loved it here so much last September that we came back for two weeks this year.  Despite slightly unpredictable weather, we’ve had a lovely restful time.  Once again Jo has made us feel so much at home that we don’t want to leave.  This pretty little gite has everything you need and more besides and Jo went out of her way to accommodate our occasional requests.
A very peaceful spot in open countryside with places to walk immediately outside the door.  We met and talked to some lovely people, both French and English, and felt very welcome.  We hope to be back again before too long.
